FIFTH-GRADE SUBJECT GUIDE

◎

Social Studies

We’ll learn how people, places, choices, and ideas have shaped our communities and our country.

We will address most of our Social Studies curriculum through cross-curriculum integration. What this means is that most of our Social Studies standards, and topics, are addressed within our ELA curriculum and the texts we use. This gives us the opportunity to kill 2 birds with one stone as we expand upon the ELA curriculum with deeper topic discussions, and add in ancillary discussions and classwork that ties in with the ELA curriculum, but addresses specific Social Studies topics in more detail.
